First graders worked on their twisting and gluing skills with this organic sculpture project.
Students previously investigated organic vs. geometric shapes while creating some organic-shaped monsters before Halloween. We moved forward with these definitions (and accompanying hand gestures) to discuss the partnering 3D geometric and organic forms.

Constructed from a cut paper bag, students twisted two strands at a time to create branches. For little fingers this can be harder than initially imagined. Students were able to add on snowflakes after gluing their tree to its base. A great one day project to work on some fine motor abilities and delve deeper into shape and form.
